I don’t need to tell you how stressful traveling is while eating gluten-free, especially if you have celiac disease!
I spend hours of research before every trip I take to find gluten-free safe restaurants to eat at. I do not have a concrete celiac disease diagnosis, but two tests came back positive and I am also sensitive to gluten under 20 parts per million. So for me, any gluten exposure results in days of pain and a ruined trip!
That’s why I want to share all of the places I’ve traveled to safely to save you hours of research and to provide you comfort that you can also travel safely!
Here are the 5 Least Stressful Gluten-Free Vacations I’ve taken!
5. Denver, Colorado
Denver is such a cool city! It’s a vibrant and fun place to be surrounded by incredible natural beauty. Whether you love nature, music, or just food Denver is a great place to be!
While you’re in Denver you need to check out Red Rocks Amphitheater for a concert as well as Holidaily Brewing Company, a dedicated gluten-free brewery 20 minutes outside of Denver!
Some great gluten-free friendly restaurants in Denver include:
- Quiero Arepas (dedicated GF food truck)
- Rivers and Roads Coffee (dedicated GF bakery)
- Marco’s Coal Fired (it might be one of the best gluten-free pizzas you’ll ever have!)
- Acova
- Bamboo Sushi
- Federal Bar and Grill
- Blue Agave Grill
4. London, England
I went to London on our Honeymoon and I was incredibly surprised by how gluten-free friendly London was! We had a wonderful experience in London on our honeymoon especially because we made a two-day trip over to Bath, England as well. Bath was incredible and I had the best gluten-free pizza I’ve ever had in Bath!
Some great gluten-free friendly restaurants in London include:
- Paladar (Dedicated GF Arepas)
- Wicked Fish Spitalfields (Dedicated GF Fish & Chips)
- Los Mochis Notting Hill (Dedicated GF Restaurant)
- Indigo Restaurant One Aldwych Hotel (we had an INCREDIBLE afternoon tea experience here)
- Cote Brasserie
- Dishoom (make a reservation weeks in advance)
3. New York City, NY
The great “Big Apple!” There is so much to do and see in NYC. From incredible musicals, historic buildings and landmarks, and most importantly enjoying the BEST gluten-free bagel you’ll ever have. New York City has so many dedicated gluten-free options for you to enjoy. It’s one of the safest (but also most expensive) gluten-free cities in the world.
Some great gluten-free friendly restaurants in NYC include:
- Modern Bread & Bagel (Dedicated GF and home to the best bagels you’ll ever have!)
- Senza Gluten by Jemiko (Dedicated GF & my FAVORITE restaurant in NYC)
- Senza Gluten by Jemiko Cafe (Dedicated GF brunch spot)
- Nami Nori (Dedicated GF Sushi)
- Risotteria Melotti (Dedicated GF)
- Springbone Kitchen (Dedicated GF Health Food Restaurant)
2. Rome, Italy
People often ask me, aren’t you tired of going to Italy? My answer is always – ABSOLUTELY NOT! I loved Italy before going gluten-free and I now love it even more as a gluten-free traveler.
Rome is without a doubt the safest city to travel to if you have celiac disease. There are so many gluten-free restaurants, cafes, and gelaterias.
But so many restaurants are celiac-safe even if they are not dedicated gluten-free! That’s because Italy has a government organization dedicated to celiac disease! The Italian Celiac Association (AIC) goes in and trains restaurants in how to properly handle gluten-free food to prevent cross-contamination.
Any restaurant with the AIC logo displayed has been certified and trained in handling food for celiac diners.
I keep going back to Rome because of the food and the history!
My FAVORITE gluten-free friendly restaurants in Rome:
- Mama Eat (aka Mama Eat Lab) has a completely separate gluten-free kitchen to ensure their gluten-free food is safe
- Le Altre Farine Del Mulino is a dedicated gluten-free bakery near Vatican City. I stopped here every day on my last trip in Rome!
- Pizza in Trevi has one of the best gluten-free pizzas you’ll ever have
- La Soffitta Renovatio has wonderful homemade gluten-free pasta
- Grom is a dedicated gluten-free gelateria with locations all throughout the city

1. Celiac Cruise
I promise you if you go on Celiac Cruise it will be the least stressful vacation you will ever take! I love my experience on Celiac Cruise to the Bahamas. There was dedicated gluten-free breakfast, lunch, dinner, and buffet options every single day.
You can read all about how Celiac Cruise works in my blog post. I explain how they ensure the food is dedicated gluten-free and celiac-safe.
This vacation is so stress-free that I watched a mom cry into her gluten-free pancakes. This was the first vacation she and her family took in YEARS where she didn’t have to cook every meal for her celiac family. She was so relieved to be able to relax and enjoy her vacation and know that her celiac son was safe!
I hope you found this guide helpful! I highly recommend all 5 of these destinations and I’m here to answer any questions you may have!
