If you’re a gluten-free traveler exploring the enchanting streets of Rome, finding the perfect place to stay within reach of safe gluten-free food can add stress to your travel planning. Fortunately, Rome is such a safe haven for gluten-free foodies – including those with celiac disease!
With its rich culinary heritage, Rome offers a plethora of options for those with dietary restrictions. These hotels are not guaranteed to have safe-gluten free food options within the hotel. However, they are located near gluten-free food! Let’s embark on a gluten-free adventure through the Eternal City, discovering the best places to stay while savoring the finest flavors Rome has to offer.
How to Find Safe Gluten-Free Food in Rome
There are two great resources for knowing where to find safe gluten-free food in Rome. One is the app Find Me Gluten Free and the other is the app AIC – Mobile.
Find Me Gluten Free

Find Me Gluten Free is the gluten-free equivalent of Yelp and can be used while traveling all around the world. Users can create an account and rate the gluten-free options and safety of restaurants they’ve eaten at. All you have to do is search the town you are traveling to and all the gluten-free food options in that town will pop up!
AIC – Mobile

AIC – Mobile is unique to Italy. It is operated by Italy’s Italian Celiac Association (AIC) which is supported by the Italian Government. The AIC has been working for over 30 years to train restaurants on the importance of preparing celiac-safe food and to prevent cross-contamination. Any restaurant that displays the AIC logo has been trained on the proper handling of gluten-free food.
AIC-Mobile is their app that allows you to find AIC certified restaurants near you.
